Yesterday, the popular streaming platform that has accumulated more than 41.5 million users in 2020, is under extreme pressure after an anonymous hacker boldly claimed to have leaked a substantial amount of the site’s private data.

Today, billions of users were barred from using Facebook and their related apps, Instagram and WhatsApp, leaving a void in an otherwise vital communication outlet. More importantly, however, the sudden shutdown also exposed the immense amount of information that the tech giant has gathered from their consumers.

Many websites require you to enable cookies before reading and interacting with them. They’re omnipresent, often unnoticed, and sometimes can get a bad rap. However, not that many people really know what they are, what they do, and whether or not you should even really be afraid of them.

After decades of rapidly changing technology, one company in particular has continuously evolved and has comfortably seated itself among the other tech giants. They have embedded themselves in many markets, most notably smartphones, tablets, and computers – all of which bearing the all-too-familiar titular fruit.

Within the last decade, and especially throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, there has been an exponential increase in the reliance of the Internet. Each year, it seems as if activities that could once be done in-person are now done through an app. If you want to communicate with your friends, just reach out through texts or social media. If you want to keep up with the news, just download an app. In short, if you want to do something – there’s probably an app for it.
